2nd team win to secure playoff

1st team win but miss out on runners up place

There was all to play for going into the Super Saturday games in Bristol with both teams looking for the runners up position in their respective leagues.

The first team needed a victory and a helpful hand to finish 2nd, but after winning their game the University of Exeter were unable to beat their Bristol counter parts to help Taunton out.

Taunton started slowly but stayed within one goal until they started to impose themselves towards the end of the first half, with Gabriel Carrillo (6 goals), Tom Mclaren (5 goals) and Matt Hill (1 goal) scoring all of the goals.

The second half started in the same vein as the other members of the team started to score goals before Horfield once again came back into the game. Tom Mclaren finished with 6 goals, Matt Fillary 3, Meg Collins 3, and Kirsty Oatley 1. Gabriel Carrillo continued to score for fun finally finishing with an amazing 11 goals, with Taunton winning 24-17.

Gabriel Carrillo and Meg Collins won the MVP awards.

The second team started their game against Horfield 3 knowing a win would be enough to finish 2nd and secure a place in the playoff game for a possible promotion to league 1. If there were any pre-game nerves they were quickly dismissed as Taunton raced into a 10-0 lead with goals from Angela Hill (3 goals), Rachael Holden (2), Jen Gibbins (2), Ben Groves (1), Stuart Allcock (1) and Mark Francis (1).

Taunton scored another 5 goals in the second half to finish with a 15-2 win which sets up a playoff match against Horfield 2 for promotion to league 1.

Ben Groves and Angela Hill won the MVP awards.
