INDOOR training is back on Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 8-9:30pm

Taunton lose both to Horfield

Horfield do the double double over Taunton

The game started with an early goal by Horfield which was quickly equalised by a goal from Rachael Holden however after this, despite Taunton Soul seeming to have greater ball possession, Horfield quickly drew ahead ending the first half with a convincing 5-1 lead.

Not to be deterred however the team tried new tactics in the second half which saw them claw back three goals ending the game with an 8-4 loss.

Despite the loss the game was a triumph for first season players Phillip West and Daniel Whelan who both scored their debut match goals; Dan with a shot under the post and Phillip with a sneaky running in shot to help reduce the goal difference in this difficult re-match.

Also scoring was Hannah Hill with a penalty

This match was decidedly easier than our first meeting with Horfield and considering the differences in our training levels the end result was a credit to the team even though it wasn't a win.

Marie Phillips and Chris Phillips were awarded MVP thanks to some great defensive work to keep Horfield away from the post.

The first team had a similar game with Horfield taking the early lead and having a notable lead at half time. Like their second team counterparts however the first team pulled it back in the second half bringing the game to a nail biting conclusion.

With around 5 minutes to spare the score was tied and everyone was on the edge of their seats hoping that Taunton Soul would pull ahead and not let Horfield take the win.

Unfortunately it wasn't to be with a late goal from Horfield that we were unable to match leading to a very close game with a final score of 12-13. Everyone remarked how much they'd enjoyed such a competitive and well matched game.

Top scorer and MVP went to Gabriel Carrillo, with Dave Hill, Hilary Manning, Angela Hill and Ruth White also scoring during the match. Hills was awarded MVP for the girls.
